Senior Research Analyst

Requirements: The Senior Analyst should be committed to community based health care organizations and the role of assessment in giving clients a voice in their own care. He or she should have an interest in the use of technology in the nonprofit sector. The senior analyst will need qualitative (focus group and key informant interview), quantitative (survey), and secondary analysis skills including strong analytic and writing abilities. He or she should be knowledgeable about program evaluation and outcome measurement. As a senior analyst, he or she will be responsible for projects design, workplans, and implementation, and should have the ability to successfully direct and manage team members and consultants on multiple projects. The senior analyst must have good people and oral presentation skills to work with diverse community groups to understand the findings of the assessment and their impact on services.

Skills:
Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment; proficiency in computer systems with emphasis in statistical and qualitative analysis. He or she should have an ability to read financial and statistical spreadsheets and have knowledge of word-processing and database management.


Qualifications:
Minimum of five to ten years of experience working in research in health/human/social service delivery system human/social or health services delivery system. Graduate degree(s) in one or more of the following: Public Health, and/or Public Administration Health Policy Administration, Management Information Technologies, Communications, Organizational Development, Social Work Nursing, Business Administration. A Bachelor degree(s) in any of the above combined with five or more years can be substituted for a graduate degree. Managed care knowledge desirable. He or she should have a portfolio of written products that can be shown.

Fluency of Spanish is highly desirable.

We currently have an internship opening by semester, at least 15 hours and up to full-time. Compensation possible $7.00-$12.00/hour depending on experience.

Scope and magnitude of the job:

One set of activities will include assisting PCH staff in determining unmet needs of people living with HIV/AIDS. It will include:
  • Conducting secondary information collection on the health care needs of people living with HIV/AIDS.

  • Quantitative analysis, including statistical analysis on existing survey data, data entry, and writing results

  • Qualitative data collection and analysis, including conducting focus groups and key informant interviews, analysis, and writing.
We are also seeking interns interested in development work for our organization and the use of technology for non-profit organizations. Development work will involve working with donors, responding to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and assisting in writing grants and proposals. Technology work will be developing our web page and methods to help collect and disseminate information via the Internet.
All interns will be involved in some administrative work, including office organization and maintenance of PCH’s computer systems.


Competencies/experience/computer skills/languages required:

Willing to learn, self motivated, smart, and committed to serving the non-profit community – especially in underserved communities. Strong writing skills and computer literacy required. Expertise in Microsoft Word & Excel, and Access preferred, but not essential if a quick learner. Existing knowledge or willingness to learn statistical analysis programs (SPSS) and Access. Spanish speaking is a plus.
